Student and Postdoctoral Fellow Activities

In addition to our Travel Award program, the Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention supports trainees attending the Annual Meeting through several activities detailed below. Please plan to take advantage of these opportunities.

Student/Postdoctoral Fellow Platform Session

Discover more about the research of other students and postdoctoral fellows. Support your colleagues by attending the Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Fellow Platform Session. The two top-rated presentations, as determined by the judges, will each receive a Wilson Presentation Award of $500.

James C. Bradford Memorial Student Poster Award

The James C. Bradford Memorial Student Poster Award is sponsored by the Middle Atlantic Reproduction and Teratology Association (MARTA). This award recognizes the best poster presentation by a student or postdoctoral fellow at the annual meetings of the Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention and the Developmental Neurotoxicology Society (DNTS). Students and postdoctoral fellows whose abstracts are submitted by the February 15 deadline and are accepted for poster presentation are automatically considered for this award. The recipients of this award will be announced during the BDRP Warkany Tea and Awards Luncheon.

Trainee Professional Development Event

The Trainee Professional Development Event is a great networking opportunity that will take place on the evening of Tuesday, June 15. Take advantage of this opportunity to meet fellow trainees and interact with scientists from academia, government, and industry.

MARTA Trainee Career Event: Networking Social

Expand your professional network in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere at the Trainee Career Event. This event provides trainees with the opportunity to connect with fellow students, postdoctoral scholars, early-career professionals, and established scientists. Whether you're seeking career advice, exploring research collaborations, or building relationships with potential mentors, this is an excellent opportunity to engage with colleagues and make meaningful connections that can support your future career.

Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention 46th Annual Volleyball Game

Calling volleyball players and cheerleaders. For 45 years, BDRP meeting attendees have gathered on a local volleyball court and enjoyed a friendly, albeit competitive, volleyball game. Don't miss this lively event on Thursday, June 17.

Become More Involved

The Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention encourages students and postdoctoral fellows to become more involved in their scientific society by becoming members of a committee. If you are interested in being part of a committee, please contact the Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention Headquarters office.
